How to get motivated to accomplish your New Year’s Resolution

‘tis the season for new year’s resolutions and this year, I’m joining the crowd. Or rather, I’m taking over! Tracy and I met at a dinner party at Melissa’s a few years ago. So, New Year’s Eve I called to wish her a Happy New Year blah, blah, blah, you know how it goes and told her about my resolution. She laughed at my past failures, but then offered to help me this year! Her advice was to blog about it. “It was kind of like a nice, swift, kick in the butt to cross the finish line. People are watching, you won’t want to let them down.”

So with the eyes of the internet watching me, I’m taking over the reigns of this blog in hopes of finding some success with my new year’s resolution for 2008. (And I’m working on recruiting my brother to join me, but that’s another story)

So here it is:

This year I am going to lose 25 pounds by my wedding date, April 27, 2008!

(cue in the round of applause, please) I know, I know, it’s typical, no? But I really want it to happen. More than anything I want to have my fairytale wedding and I want to be the beautiful bride every girl dreams of becoming. I’ve even found my perfect dress (below), so all I need is the perfect body.

And I’m starting today. Yesterday didn’t count. Let’s be realistic, in the city, New Year’s Day is for recovering from New Year’s Eve, not for starting resolutions and diets.

So far, I’ve eaten a bowl of Special K (with yogurt and red berries) an apple, carrots, a turkey sandwich, and a cup of sugar free, fat free chocolate pudding (so not as good as the real stuff) and pretzels. And later, I’ll have a salad with chicken breast, soup, and a fudgesicle for dessert. TMI? Whatever, someone told me a food journal was the way to go, so we’ll see.

And I think I’m finally going to go into our apartment building’s gym! Wow, I haven’t really exercised since college, *ahem* not that it was all that long ago, but… we’ll see what happens. Wish me luck, I’ll update more tomorrow!
