Achieve your New Year’s resolutions with our help
Tuesday, December 26th, 2006Christmas is over, so it’s time to start making some New Year’s resolutions. Ahhh, New Year’s resolutions: many people make them; few people keep them. The tradition of resolving to make a change in the new year is said to have originated with the ancient Babylonians; it’s speculated that a common resolution in Babylonia was to return borrowed farm equipment to start the new year fresh, without owing anyone.
In modern times, many wicked New Year’s Day hangovers have inspired people to resolve, “I’ll never drink this much again,†only to crack open a six-pack the very next weekend. Losing weight is a common resolution that people may keep up with for a month or so—until Valentine’s Day rolls around and they indulge in chocolates from their sweetheart, or drown their sorrow about being single in pints of Ben and Jerry’s (not that I’ve ever done that… really…).
In short, many people make ambitious New Year’s resolutions, then fail to stick to them. I’ve certainly done that many times, which is why I started this blog. Some friends and I will make near-daily postings in an effort to help us stick to our respective New Year’s resolutions, and hopefully help inspire others to succeed in maintaining their resolutions as well. Whether you want to lose weight, pay off debts, learn a new skill, find a husband, or get a better job, our blog can help you keepd your resolution to do so! I’ll be revealing my (totally awesome!) resolution on January 1, so stay tuned for the excitement.
Sharing your resolution greatly increases your chance of keeping it, so get the word out! You can sign up to post your resolutions as blog entries, or just leave them in a comment. We’ll be a supportive community of “resolved†individuals committed to achieving our goals!

I really want to thank the creator of this blog. I’ve been wanting to stop smoking, but I had no real plan. When I joined this blog, it gave me the shove I needed to try to make a success of giving up cigarettes.
If anyone is interested, they can follow my progress at New Years Resolutions.
