New Year’s Resolutions and Doing Your Taxes

Dude, you’re never going to guess what I got at work last week! A cake? A raise? A sweet window desk? I wish. Hardly though, just my W2. So I was thinking - woah, right? J/k. Do people ever make New Year’s Resolutions about their taxes? It’s such a horribly annoying thing, I certainly wouldn’t be thinking about them on New Year’s Eve, there were plenty, way better things on my mind, like, my wedding dress, Parker, parties, my fabulous outfit. I was talking about it with Alexa this morning and Frank chimes into the conversation by announcing none other than “Well, one of my resolutions was to get my taxes done sooner this year - saves a lot of hassle and I don’t want to rip out any more hair than necessary.”

So, my apologies, Frank, I was wrong, people do make tax resolutions. Which inspired me to make a pseudo tax resolution! This weekend I started research and downloaded tax software so I can get mine done early too! And here’s what I have to say about all of that. First off, the IRS Website couldn’t have been a worse place to start my search. It’s ugly, complicated, and made no sense. So instead, I ended up asking Google about better places to find my information and ended up reading helpful do-it-yourself tax articles because with a wedding coming up, I don’t want to pay anybody else any more money to do things for me. I’m a grown woman, surely I can handle silly little taxes! And then with all that talk about H&R Block (did you know that stands for Henry and Richard?! I just learned that!) and TurboTax I went looking for more information on those and ended up at a place where I could buy online tax return software and found even more helpful articles. Maybe next weekend I’ll actually sit down and do them. Maybe.
