Progress Report

If you’ve been following along on my resolution to stop smoking, here’s an update. I am out of the closet! I had not “announced” to my family what I was trying to do, but I told my daughter about this blog and she discovered my secret when she visited here. Although I had not spoken my resolution out loud, my hubby did notice that I was not taking the “cigarette breaks” in the evenings.

Yesterday was another really good day, but again, we had a snow day here and I had my granddaughter the whole day. She does not let me out of her sight, so, no smoking! I do have to say though that it was not as hard to abstain as it was when I was smoking more. And, I didn’t make up for it in the evening so I consider it a victory. So, I’m still following my plan and working towards the day when it will be cold turkey for me.

I found this website to be very helpful to me and if you are facing this same struggle, I hope you can too. Good luck!

Antman, it is so great to hear this encouragement! It really makes me want to succeed. My granddaughter is gorgeous, but of course, my opinion is not unbiased.

Hey Ma!! Here I am sitting in sales traing… (yawn) Anyway… I know what you’re going through trying to quit cold turkey… that’s how I did it. Of course, with a couple of cocktails, I tend to smoke a few, but other than that I’ve been good. You have your whole family and or course all of your wonderful “web-based” friends that are pulling for you!!
Hope all is well.. and to Antman…. Ruby’s granddaughter takes after her “Auntie M”… thus she IS beautiful!! ; )

Hey rubyredshoes, what a wonderful resolution!! Hooray!! I’ll support you kicking your bad habit if you support my family in kicking ours - the boob tube. It’s all about baby steps, though . . .

    Good luck!

    Hey rubyredshoes,

I’m here to encourage you also. You can do this with all the support and encouragement you’ll be getting from the blogosphere. antman is looking for a 100 visitors a month to give you the encouragement to quit. I agree with antman, this is very doable! You are going to be too busy reading your comments to even think about a smoke. hehe

    Stay focused……you CAN do it!!!!

    Hi Melissa

I’m staying strong! Still finding out when my “problem times” are, ha ha.

Thanks for reminding me - I think I will send off an encouraging email to my DIL at work.

I like to do karaoke, would you like me to entertain you? Or, I love to read - maybe we could read a book together!

    Hi Ruby,
I just found your site from my buddy Antman. As a personal trainer heart says “Go For It”, and I wish you the best of luck. As a dad and a husband, I can only imagine how much better you will feel, and how much stronger, and longer you will be around to enjoy your family.

    Good luck!
    Coop

    Ruby:
Look on the Antman’s blog for my comments of support. I’m new at this, so I put them on his site. However, they are sincerely meant. LOL, Matthew

I think I might have a resolution of my own…As silly as it sounds, I can’t stop flipping through channels on the TV. I get watching something that interests me, and then the wonderful world of commercials hit. I HATE commercials. I flip around until I find another program that grabs my interest, so I start watching that, then forget that I was watching something on another channel. I don’t mind it so much, except when I miss something good, but it drives my partner absolutely nuts!! So… instead of watching one full show, I end up watching bits and pieces of many and end up not really knowing what’s going on with any show. Again, not so frustrating for me, but others HATE watching TV with me. This is something I will try to work on as best as I can.

A BIG THANKS!! To everyone that has stopped by to show encouragement for Rubyredshoes. I’m sure she really appreciates the support. Melissa… good luck cutting back on the boob tube. It’s so easy to get sucked in!!

Meg is my daughter. Poor kid, she doesn’t stand a chance. I thought my husband wrote that post! He does the exact same thing and trust me, it is annoying!

Good luck with the resolution, Meg. Feel free to write your own post if you want. Thanks for stopping in.

My DIL is doing great - she is on her fourth day of cold turkey with the help of the patch. Go Chrissy!
