The big 1-0!

Uh oh… I might be in trouble! For the last few weeks, my “long slow” run on Sundays has been 8-9 miles. I’ve definitely been fudging it way more toward the 8 miles (heh), except for two weeks ago when I actually hit 9 (unbelievable!). That was the longest distance I’d ever run in my life, but it was also pretty exhausting!

Much to my dismay, my long runs increase to 9-10 miles the next few weeks. No more keeping it down to my beloved 8! But the marathon IS in only about 4 months (can you believe it?), and it IS 26.2 miles in length, and that’s a lot more than 8! I suppose now is as good a time as any to start running in the double digits, but I’m still a little scared.

I’m thinking of running an out-and-back route so I won’t be able to cheat and cut it short (hehe). I may have to walk, but I’ll travel 10 miles by feet if it kills me! Okay, maybe not if it kills me, but if it does anything short of that.

Any experienced double-digit runners (I know there are people out there who run 10+ miles DAILY… I can’t imagine!) have helpful tips for tackling the big 10 miler?
