Wow, I wish I had heard about Cause to Run earlier! It’s a great way to raise money for charity while running the San Francisco Marathon. I knew there were a lot of marathons out there for cancer and other causes, but I didn’t know the San Francisco Marathon had a program like this.
I’m not sure if you can sign up for it after having already registered for the marathon, but I’m going to try and figure out how to do so. It seems like a really cool way to raise money while running! Let me know if you want to sponsor me… ;)

A way for you to individually raise money fro charity is through a personalized fundraising page. Firstgiving is a website that helps anyone create a free personalized fundraising page for any non-profit that is registered through GuideStar ( a registry of nearly 2MM non-profits). After you create your page you can rally your online community via your blog or social networking page with a fundraising widget or a badge. Firstgiving will also send any funds raised directly to the non-profit of your choice so no one has to worry about where the money is going or how it is getting there. It’s a great way to gain support from your online community and help a deserving charity!

    Think $2,620! Good luck!
