The Power of Numbers

I feel like singing… “I’ve got sunshiiiiiiiiiiine on a clooooouuuudy daaaaaaay!” Sorry, had to get that out. I have to start out saying welcome and thank you to all the users who have joined me in posting their resolutions and thoughts. Nicogel… I just don’t know about that “Umm… excuse me, I need a hand rubbing break, care to join me?” hahaha it’s just too good. More amusing than anything, but if it works, more power to you. Thank goodness I don’t smoke, I can only imagine how hard it would be to quit, so good luck to everyone looking for ways to make quitting easier, and those of you on the road to being smoke-free.

So… I was doing a little site admin and found a great post/comment by new user, NewYearsResolutions2, that I wanted to incorporate. She’s joining the resolution discussion as she does daily blogging about her New Years Resolutions (kudos to you, I can’t seem to write here as often as I’d like!). Here’s what she had to say:

Exciting DVD set!

…and injury. :( Yep, less than two weeks out from the marathon, I have strained my hamstring something awful. It’s the worst thing that’s happened to me thus far, and of course it had to happen close to the end. Hopefully it won’t be so bad, though–I have done the longest runs I’m supposed to do, and all the time until the marathon (which is only TWELVE DAYS away! yipes!) is mostly tapering. I’m scheduled for 3-5 mile runs today, tomorrow, and Thursday, but I hope I can just skip them and start up again on Friday without too much trouble. I don’t think it will be a huge setback provided it heals up in a few days. Better rest than test, I always say… or rather, my friend Brad says to me. And since he’s more experienced at running than I am, I believe him. And though the injury comes at a really bad time in relation to the marathon, it comes at a GREAT time in relation to DVD releases… Continue reading

Rock climbing as cross-training

I’ve been thinking about trying rock climbing for a while now, and this article about Dean Potter particularly piqued my interest. This guy is an amazing athlete who, with his partner Tim O’Neill, climbed the Nose of El Capitan in Yosemite in 3 hours and 24 minutes (the first ascent up the Nose took 45 DAYS!). Continue reading

De-Stress Yourself!

Well, at two weeks into my resolution to quit smoking, I am finding myself stressed. So, I decided to de-stress myself, occupy my hands and maybe bring a smile to my face.

This is a short list of some fun tests you can take so you can stop taking yourself so seriously.  Lighten up - don’t be so hard on yourself - you’ll get through it!

THIS IS ONLY A TEST!

Are You a Freak?

What’s Your Real Age?

The Death Clock (If You Really Want To Know!)

What Color is Your Aura?

Is It Real or a Hoax?

Personality Quiz

Try Your Putting Skills!

Are You A Rebel or a Yankee?

Do You Really Know What is Gross?

And, this one is a game, but for obvious reasons, it is my favorite even though the instructions seem to be in Korean!

Cigarette Killer

I hope you have some fun here.

The true cost of bottled water

Wow, reading this article about the cost of making bottled water makes me glad I’m a Camelbak user! The calculations done by the article’s author show that it takes 25 liters of water to make a plastic bottle that holds one liter of water — what a discrepancy! I suppose it takes quite a bit of water to make a Camelbak, too, but at least I only have one of those!

Make your own custom M&M’s!

Yeah, you heard right: custom M&M’s! Settle for the plain ol’ primary colors and white M’s no longer. The website MyMMs.com lets you customize M&Ms with your own personal message. You can choose from several colors, including the traditional M&M hues, several shades of pastel (light purple, light blue, and pink), dark green, aqua, gold, silver, cream, white, black, and even dark pink M&M’s. Pink AND dark pink? What a perfect Valentine’s Day combo! (Hint, hint to anyone who wants to get me a Valentine’s gift! :D ).
