Taking a Day Off

Dear Blog-Diary,

Can a girl get some room to breathe, please? Sometimes, you know, I just need a day off from dieting and exercise. Especially when it’s my best friend’s birthday. I’m announcing my intentions to the world rather than keeping it on the “DL” because I don’t want to feel like a cheater. “Dude, I saw Delylah eating a huge piece of cake the other day, isn’t she on a diet?!” It’s like the food police is everywhere. New Year’s Resolutions and Doing Your Taxes

Dude, you’re never going to guess what I got at work last week! A cake? A raise? A sweet window desk? I wish. Hardly though, just my W2. So I was thinking - woah, right? J/k. Do people ever make New Year’s Resolutions about their taxes? It’s such a horribly annoying thing, I certainly wouldn’t be thinking about them on New Year’s Eve, there were plenty, way better things on my mind, like, my wedding dress, Parker, parties, my fabulous outfit. Excuses get you Nowhere.

Dear Blog-Diary,

I’m sorry I’ve been such a neglectful blogger the past few days; I’ve just been so busy. At the end of the day though, excuses are still only excuses so I apologize and I promise to write more often. It’s just like a New Year’s Resolution. You have to keep at it; you can make excuses, but the only place those are going to get you is right back where you started, fat and unhappy. I’m not making any more excuses about being unhealthy, I may as well be honest with myself.

The Power of Numbers

I feel like singing… “I’ve got sunshiiiiiiiiiiine on a clooooouuuudy daaaaaaay!” Sorry, had to get that out. I have to start out saying welcome and thank you to all the users who have joined me in posting their resolutions and thoughts. Nicogel… I just don’t know about that “Umm… excuse me, I need a hand rubbing break, care to join me?” hahaha it’s just too good. More amusing than anything, but if it works, more power to you. Thank goodness I don’t smoke, I can only imagine how hard it would be to quit, so good luck to everyone looking for ways to make quitting easier, and those of you on the road to being smoke-free.

So… I was doing a little site admin and found a great post/comment by new user, NewYearsResolutions2, that I wanted to incorporate. She’s joining the resolution discussion as she does daily blogging about her New Years Resolutions (kudos to you, I can’t seem to write here as often as I’d like!). Here’s what she had to say:

Acceptable Alternative?

A new gel is set to hit the shelves at Walgreen’s. This one does not sanitize your hands, but satisifies your craving for a cigarette. That’s right, just rub it in!

The product, called Nicogel, is the invention of biochemist Dr. John Walters of Great Britain.

Unlike traditional nicotine replacement therapies such as gums and patches, the gel gives Continue reading

New Year New Resolutions

#1 - I’m in a fair amount of pain after 50 crunches and 4 sun salutes, so exercise has to be on the list.

#2 - Call my sister more often. She’s in Italy. Skype, here I come!

#3 - Sleep more. This 6 hours-a-night business is bull.

Any more than 3 and I’ll never do any of them. I’m stopping before this becomes an impossible to-do list. Wish me luck!

E for Effort

“The sovereign invigorator of the body is exercise, and of all the exercises walking is the best.” -Thomas Jefferson

So I was looking at quotes and I got to thinking… how do I know these people really said these things? I’ve always loved inspirational quotes, but who decided to write down all these words? Which smart person had a fountain pen or whatever people used back then, and paper and knew to write it down every time someone like T.J. opened their mouth. Makes me want to carry a pen and pencil. Or learn how to write notes on my cell faster.

Inspirational Quotes

Last night + Alexa at the gym = my butt was kicked. Everything hurts soooooooo much more when you’re doing it right. I mean, I’m sure it’s good for you and soreness is a good, happy feeling because it means progress, but for goodness sakes. Dude, it hurts to just be alive right now. No offense to people in the world feeling “real” pain, but man, is it really necessary for me to feel every muscle in my body while typing at my laptop? I think not.

Keys to Successful Dieting

So with renewed enthusiasm I got back on track to my goal. I’ve only got so much time left. I even did a little bit of motivational research and found a great blog about how to achieve New Year’s Resolution success. It talks about seeing yourself accomplishing your goal as a motivation to get there. I’ll admit, I’ve never thought of trying that. Funny, when I think about my wedding and planning it and everything, it started with a vision, and I used that vision to help guide me in all my decisions. Applying that to my resolution makes perfect sense. If I can visualize myself wearing that dress and walking down the aisle feeling better than ever, then surely I can do it!

Fighting with Father Time

No matter how many times it’s been said and tagged as cliché, there are still not enough hours in the day! And there certainly aren’t enough minutes to spare before it’s time to head off to work. At the beginning of this I thought I’d sort of pencil in “give up fast food during weekdays” to my new year’s resolution because the two kind of go hand in hand, but honestly, how am I supposed to say no to a super tasty Double Whopper with Cheese when it’s just a few blocks down the road, takes only moments to eat it’s deliciousness, and no time to prepare?
